Day three. As you all know, we went over the Pyrenees yesterday. But I can tell you beyond a reasonable doubt that I no longer have a great pair of knees. A lot of pain today in my knee, and sore muscles in my lower and upper back and so on. But I’ve got nothing to complain about.

On one of the steepest parts of today, I passed a marine pushing a guy in a rock tumbler (wheelchair on rocks!).

If he can do it, I can do it, and if I can do it, you can do it. Step out of our comfort zone!

We went 18 1/2 miles at 38,500 steps today, and over some of the roughest rocks and ruts.

I also want to mention that today is the eighth anniversary of Kim passing away. I brought along some of her ashes, and today I spread them along some of the most beautiful portions of the trail. At times I felt as if she was walking with me, I kid you not.. It was almost as if giant weights were being lifted from me, even as I carried a very heavy backpack.

Tonight we are staying at this hotel, the patio, and the balcony shown in the pictures were in the movie The Way. Martin Sheen stayed here.
