We left Santo Domingo at 6 AM today and started our walk towards Belorado, 15.4 miles to the west. It’s a good thing I had my headlamp with me because we used it for about an hour or two to cloud cover, keeping it dark.

Almost immediately after leaving Santo Domingo, we started seeing field after field, hill after hill of sunflower plants that were dried. All the seeds were still on them so I guess they were close to harvesting them. But it must’ve been at least 10 to 12 miles of nothing but sunflower plants. Pretty much rolling hills the whole time.

It was pretty much an uneventful walk other than the cute and quaint little towns. We passed through, very quiet due to it being Sunday morning.

Belorado is a pretty cool little town. Somebody has a lot of time on their hands because they crocheted all the park, benches, trees, and handrails in the parks. The hotel we’re staying in, is made of very old stones.

I am going to have to see a pharmacist tomorrow due to what I think is a heat rash on my left lower leg getting worse. I think my frictions socks are too tight or I’ve got something else going on. I’m not too worried about it.

Tomorrow we make our way to Burgos, a very large city. A lot of people say there are three cities that you must see, especially the cathedrals - Burgos, Lyons, and of course, Santiago, our destination.

I made some new friends from Ireland today that helped us out quite a bit on our planning moving forward. It’s hard to believe that we’re 1/3 of the way into this trip and within the next few days, we will hit the halfway point. That will be a big deal!
